Phospholipids are amphiphilic molecules, and are a major component of cell membranes. As a consequence they self assemble in water, forming bilayers. Usually bilayers form spontaneously closed objects of various topologies. Spherical capsules formed by phospholipid bilayers are called liposomes or vesicles.
