Description :
We will present an experimental investigation of the flow-induced structure in concentrated suspensions, with particular attention to their anisotropy. A wide-angle light scattering setup under flow will be introduced, enabling us to probe the microstructure at the nearest-neighbor scale along different orientations relative to the deformation field. In a second part, we demonstrate that, once the flow is stopped, the suspension retains a memory of its flow-induced structure, giving rise to anisotropic mechanical properties.
